How do you store a brush between coats of polyurethane (without cleaning it)?

Is there an easy way to preserve a brush between coats of water-based polyurethane, without having to clean it? I’ve heard with paint, you can just put the brush in a freezer bag and freeze it until your next use. Will that work here? Is there another easy way?
